Guests from Audubon New York will present on their coastal conservation efforts across Long Island and how they engage Long Island residents and visitors. The organization works in multiple conservation projects including saltmarsh restoration, shorebird stewardship and community engagement.

Shelby Casas - Coast Program Associate, Audubon New York
Prior to her role with Audubon New York, Shelby worked with Audubon Connecticut as a seasonal Coastal Waterbird technician. She started her birding journey at Clarkson University studying Golden-winged Warblers population distribution in Northern New York where she graduated with a BS in Biology and focus on Environmental Science. She has been working with shorebirds for four years and oversees the Coastal Stewardship program for Audubon New York and is based at the Theodore Roosevelt Sanctuary & Center in Oyster Bay.
Phoebe Clark - Coastal Resilience Manager, Audubon New York
Complete her undergraduate degree at the University of Virginia in 2018 in Environmental Science and English. During her undergraduate years, she pursued a series of summer internships in environmental science from Maine to Florida with an emphasis on coastal ecosystems. She then moved to Southwest Florida to complete her Master of Science degree in Environmental Science at Florida Gulf Coast University where she worked with Dr. Edwin Everham to monitor the success of the Picayune Strand Restoration Project using anuran, fish, aquatic macroinvertebrate, and plant communities. For 2 years she served as a biologist for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District in the Restoration and Recovery Section working within the agency and externally with partner agencies, stakeholders, NGOs, and members of the public to accomplish environmental initiatives on projects such as the Picayune Strand Restoration Project, Kissimmee River Restoration, Herbert Hoover Dike Rehabilitation, and Everglades Agricultural Area. Currently, she relocated to New York and is Audubon New York’s Senior Manager for Coastal Resilience working on protecting, improving, and restoring coastal habitat with an especial focus on the Saltmarsh Sparrow.
Roxana Saravia - Public Program Coordinator, Theodore Roosevelt Sanctuary and Audubon Center
As a Long Island native, Roxana developed a love for wildlife from a young age. She graduated from Stony Brook University with an MA in Marine Conservation & Policy and SUNY Farmingdale with a BS in Bioscience. Prior to joining Audubon Roxana worked as a park ranger and biological science technician. She has worked with a variety of species such as shorebirds, Horseshoe crabs, sea turtles, and marine mammals.
