Join us for the second part of this lecture series: Sea Turtles of New York with Lindsey Reisz. Atlantic Marine Conservation Society biologists will review the species of sea turtles found in New York waters and the threats they face. We will explain the process of satellite tagging and how that data is used, the effect of cold-stunning on a sea turtle, how the AMSEAS team properly disentangles sea turtles in the wild, and we will give a behind the scenes look at our Sea Turtle Critical Care Facility. By the end of the lecture, participants will be able to effectively monitor the beaches for cold-stunned sea turtles, know the proper steps to take when encountering a cold-stunned or entangled sea turtle, and who to contact for a disentanglement response.
