Learn about plovers and their nesting habits, then create a poster to bring awareness. This activity is perfect for passionate artists who want to flex their creative skills and learn how to make compelling signs for public education! We will scan copies of your poster to keep here at the Center.
Sharing the Shore: Beach Nesting Shorebirds with Audubon New York | All Ages | 11:30am | RSVP Preferred
Each year shorebirds and seabirds travel to Long Island to nest along its beaches and islands. Audubon New York’s representatives will share their experience with these birds. Learn about the six nesting shorebird and seabird species of our beaches, the threats they face during their nesting season and how guests can help in the conservation efforts to protect them.
Plover Patrol Beach Stroll | All Ages | 1:00pm | No RSVP Required
Keep your eyes peeled for any sign of our endangered species! We will walk by the nesting habitats on the beachfront and see our favorite shorebirds in their element.
This stroll is a 1.5 mile walk on loose sand.
* Jones Beach State Park collects parking fees for all fields 6am-6pm on Saturdays. Empire pass is accepted. West End 2’s beachfront will be open for swimming with lifeguards.
