In celebration of Climate Week 2022, join us for a conversation with Beth Fiteni, Program Coordinator for the Drive Electric Long Island Coalition. She will discuss the importance of electric vehicles for mitigating climate change, the infrastructural changes necessary to accommodate more charging stations, and the personal benefits of owning an electric vehicle. Electric vehicles will be on site for visitors to check out!

Elisabeth (Beth) Fiteni - Program Coordinator, Drive Electric Long Island Coalition
Elisabeth (Beth) Fiteni is managing director of the US Green Building Council -LI, and program coordinator for the Drive Electric Long Island Coalition. She has twenty five years of experience working in the environmental movement for non-profit organizations in DC and NY. She has worked at the NYS Department of Public Service on clean energy policy, Sustainability Institute at Molloy College, Renewable Energy Long Island, Community Development Corporation of LI under a contract with NYSERDA, and Beyond Pesticides. She is the author of the book, The Green Wardrobe Guide - Finding EcoChic Fashions that Look Great and Help Save the Planet .
She founded the nonprofit Green Inside and Out in 2011 and hosted a monthly radio show on WUSB Stony Brook University radio for 7 years. She now hosts a monthly environmental podcast. Both the radio show and podcast have won multiple awards from the Press Club of LI. Fiteni was awarded the LI Sierra Club Environmentalist of the Year in 2017, the EPA’s Environmental Quality award 2010 for her work in co-creating educational materials on children’s environmental health (Ribbet.org), and the LI Business News’ Top 40 Under 40 Award in 2008. Beth lectures regularly all over Long Island on sustainable living, and offered a TEDx Talk at Adelphi University in March 2018 entitled, The Toxic Talk - Your Power Over Pollutants . She is a trainee of the Climate Reality organization formed by former Vice President Al Gore. Beth has served as Board member of the US Green Building Council LI Chapter (2008), Prevention is the Cure, Slow Food North Shore, Vision LI, Friends of Huntington Farmlands and the Huntington Clean Energy Task Force. She is a graduate of the Energeia Partnership at Molloy College, and has been featured in media outlets such as News 12, Fios 1, WNBC Channel 4, Newsday and the Long Islander. Beth has a Master’s Degree in Environmental Law from Vermont Law School, and a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from Connecticut College.
