Cold-Stunned sea turtle season has begun in NY! Sea turtles can be found in NY waters from late spring through September, and should begin to migrate to warmer southern waters in early fall. As water temperatures decrease in the region, sea turtles that fail to head south get cold-stunned (hypothermic). Join Atlantic Marine Conservation Society for a discussion about the sea turtle species seen in NY waters, the threats they face, and how you can become an active part of sea turtle conservation! Learn how to monitor local beaches for cold-stunned sea turtles and how to report any strandings you encounter to get these endangered species immediate assistance. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions throughout the presentation.
