Jase Bernhardt, PhD is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geology, Environment and Sustainability at Hofstra University where he researches improved weather hazard communication using tools such as virtual reality and video games. He has appeared in local and national media including The Washington Post, Newsday, and The Weather Channel to discuss weather warning communication. Bernhardt will review the 2020 hurricane season and its significant impacts on the United States, preview what is to come, and provide insight into the unique challenge of conveying weather risk during a pandemic.
