For Black History Month, join us for a lecture highlighting various scientists, historical and contemporary, that have contributed cutting-edge research to society! We will be discussing their works and their career paths through the years.
Learn more about the scientists who have improved your health, discovered microscopic worlds, and explored new habitats.

Interested in learning the basics to birding? Stop by our Birding Platform and meet with our team. They will give you tips on bird identification, how to spot birds in the wild, and where to look for different types of birds.
Jones Beach is one stop along a migratory bird corridor known as the Atlantic Flyway. We see over 300 different species of birds throughout the year. See what feathered friends fly by the platform!
This activity is wheelchair and low-mobility accessible.

Sea Creature Sculpture Exhibit Opening

Natalia Garguilo’s Gold Award Project features whimsical sculptures that save trash from ending up in our oceans. Children from around the community helped paint the recycled supplies used to construct these art pieces.
Join us and the artist for an this exhibit opening. Learn about the impacts of marine pollution, complete and activity book, and take pictures with great art!
This exhibit will be on display from July 22nd-August 15th, 2023.

Nature Writing Workshop

Learn about Rachel Carson, one of history’s most talented nature writers, and practice writing your very own piece inspired by the local environment.

First Day Hike

Families (All Ages) | Walk
This free event will take place at Field 10 of Jones Beach. Drop in anytime between 10am - 3pm to talk with an educator and go looking for seals swimming along in the bay. This hike is 1.5 miles out-and-back. Our educators will have a scope to help patrons spot any seals.
There will be a raffle for a free Empire Pass during this program. Speak to a staff member to fill out the form and enter!
Wear boots, bring binoculars, and dress in layers, with scarves, hats, and gloves.

Meet our educators tabling at Field 10 of Jones Beach State Park to learn more about the seals along the bay side of Jones Beach. Bring binoculars, and proceed with a trek along the water.

Winter Wonderland

Come by the Center for crafts, snacks, and candy canes.
We will be doing one guided craft with limited spots, and have another room set up with coloring pages, and passive craft materials.
If you’d like, bring non-perishable food to donate to our food drive!
